After releasing the highly anticipated "Polarity" album in 2001, Haujobb returned eight months later with yet another new single, "Penetration." The single gave great incite into what to expect from the new album, "Vertical Theory." As Daniel Myer, mastermind behind Haujobb, described the album "a little trance, a little EBM, a little industrial, a little ambient, and a little bit dance, but with that Haujobb 'feel'..." Surely this album will grab listeners who let "Polarity" slip by, and open up a whole new world, defiant of music categorization. Exceptional programming, airy synths, throbbing beats, and Daniel's unmistakable voice will make "Vertical Theory" a Haujobb for the masses.

FLA is a SONIC ELECTRONIC BULLDOZER. That's about the most concise way I can describe how this album feels to me.
'Alone' is hands down my top pick here, although I do find 'Rubber Tube Gag' sticking in my brain a lot, too.
My one criticism (constructive of course) is that sometimes the lyrics feel underinspired, but it's not a big issue in the grander context of this otherwise excellent album. This one definitely grows on you, too. Good stuff, and solidly recommended.

Gorgeous, deep, awesome. Contemplative, pulsing sound textures, on par with the best material that Architect or haujobb (or Burial, for that matter) ever produced. Greyscale Press

Fans of Fire-Toolz, take note! The brutal new LP from STCLVR occupies the same sonic territory, with harsh electronics & pummeling beats. Bandcamp New & Notable Oct 17, 2020
